Year 11 Study Period Changes for Term 3

Web Banner

Dear Parents and Carers,

There will be a change to the organisation of Y11 study periods. As students move into their final term of 11, the Academic Enrichment Team will be focusing on various Study Skills for Y11. In weeks 9-10 of Term 3, Y11 will complete their Yearly Examinations. These Examinations will be the first experience Y11 will have participating in a formalised examination structure. Our focus will be to develop skills in organisation and time management, how to study and revise and other skills in preparing for examinations.

Y11 students will be expected to complete the Study Skills Sessions and submit the activities to our staff. Students will continue to have access to tutors and all of the resources within the Library, however will be expected to engage in various Study Skills Lessons that will be delivered. To ensure a suitable area and effective delivery, Y11 will now be in the Connected Classroom for all timetabled study periods.

Erina High School has a legislative responsibility for the safety of our students and take this duty of care seriously. Y11 students will not be permitted to leave school ground during timetabled study periods and return for later lessons. Students must remain onsite between their first timetabled lesson and their last timetabled lesson.

The first 8 weeks of Term 3 will be an important time for all Y11 students and to ensure strong results, students need to develop consistent patterns of study and revision, that directly enhance a student’s ability to recall information and curriculum content in an examination environment. Students need to continue their preparation towards their HSC and engage with all supports on offer including Y11 teachers, Year Advisors, Academic Enrichment Team, and the Senior Executive.

Good luck in your final term of Y11.

Regards,

Mr G Mallon
