Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Erina High School extends an invitation to all parents, caregivers and students in both Year 8 and Year 10 to attend our Subject Selection Information Evening. The evening is designed to provide information on subject availability and guide students and their families in appropriate subject selection for the future years study in 2022.
The evening will be broken into two sessions, with the Year 8 students and families required at 5.30pm and year 10 students and families at 6.30pm.
Date: Thursday, May 20th 2021
Time: YEAR 8 Students 5:30pm – 6:15pm
YEAR 10 Students 6:30pm – 8:00pm
Venue: Erina High School MPC
In an effort to make subject selection clearer and easier to understand, your son/daughter will be given access to the Subject Selection Booklet for their relevant year group. We strongly encourage parents to go through this booklet with their student. It is important that both parents and students discuss this booklet. The booklet will be accessed through the student and parent portal and on the school’s website. This will be released in the week before the evening in week 4 of Term 2.
During the school day of Thursday May 20th, students will be given the opportunity to listen to information on all courses being offered for 2022. This will be facilitated by faculty representatives who will detail course descriptions and offer advice on all subjects offered within the faculty. The aim of this day session is to raise awareness of options and generate potential interest for students. Parents/guardians and students are encouraged to attend the Subject Selection Evening armed with any questions that will be answered by faculty representatives and provide individual advice based on our students aims and aspirations.
Students will make course selections online and provide a printed copy of their choices signed by a parent/guardian to the relevant Deputy Principal. Year 8 students to Mr Brailey and Year 10 to Mr Mallon by the June 4th (Friday week 7 of Term 2).
Our Year 10 students will be interviewed regarding the subjects they have chosen, and the future outcome(s) they are striving for by the careers and transition team. This is to ensure approach selection have been made based on aptitude and based on the student goals.
The school’s website will have further information regarding subject selections, including the introduction booklet and the entire Senior Subject Prospectus for those looking for more detailed information. Your sons/daughters are strongly encouraged to speak with the Careers and Transition team and their subject’s teachers about options for 2022.
