COVID 19 Update 21/07/2021 (HSC)

Web Banner

Dear Year 12 Students and Parents,

We have received advice from NESA this afternoon with some updates to the 2021 HSC timetable to minimise the impacts of COVID-19 on HSC students and schools. I have provided this extract for you.

These decisions reflect the latest health advice and are part of ongoing decisions aimed at providing clarity to the school community.

The Committee agreed to:

  • Reschedule the Oral language exams to run from 14 August to 18 September for students in Greater Sydney and regional NSW.
  • Reschedule the Dance performance exams to run from 9 to 13 August in schools in regional NSW and from 13 to 17 September in schools in Greater Sydney.
  • Extend the due date for the Society and Culture Personal Interest Project by two weeks to 9 August.
  • Increase the number of times HSC students can attempt the HSC minimum standard tests to 6 times per year.

The Committee is currently focussed on making sure processes are in place so that the HSC remains fair and equitable for all students across NSW.

Our priority is to limit disruption to HSC students. We know that students, particularly those in Greater Sydney, need as much support as possible as they prepare to hand in their major projects and sit exams.

You will find further information about today's announcement on the NESA website, as well as:

  • Guidelines to support schools in Greater Sydney with contingency planning for HSC trial exams
  • Clearer advice for HSC students accessing schools in Greater Sydney during the lockdown.

EHS tomorrow will publish the year 12 trial exam timetable that is scheduled to commence August 9 2021 pending NSW Health advice, Department of Education and NESA guidelines to deliver these in a COVID safe way. We will also provide any further updates regarding other specific HSC courses as they currently stand.

Stay well and safe year 12 you are doing the most magnificent job at engaging with your studies and I am very proud of what you are doing under the most incredibly challenging circumstances. To Mum’s and Dads and support teams at home well done to you as well, and of course our wonderful teachers!

Take care everyone
